Bridgeport Church Leadership
Bridgeport is governed by a trio of leadership teams: a Church Staff, a board of Elders and a board of Trustees. These teams work together to provide leadership for the spiritual and logistical needs of the church body.
Sam Newby – Senior Pastor

Sam is the Lead Pastor at Bridgeport. He and his wife Anna have a wonderful son, Wyatt Thomas, and they live in one of KC’s midtown neighborhoods. Sam is a Kansas City native and prior to founding Bridgeport he worked with several churches in the south KC area. Sam has a B.A. in writing and an M.P.A. in urban administration. Sam loves being with his family, writing, KU basketball and strangely, birds. His primary thematic passions are: the presence of God, Spiritual growth, everything about the Scriptures, the formation of the heart, the Life of the Spirit, the Kingdom of God, the calling of the Church, okay, so he loves it all.
Jordan Johnson – Worship Leader

Jordan and his wife Joni helped establish Bridgeport Church and have a heart to see the gospel go forth through creativity. Their ministry has been expressed primarily through their vocations both in fashion and music. They both carry an anointing to engage people in the worship of Jesus through the arts. Jordan and his wife Joni along with their two children live in Kansas City.
Scott MacDougall – Pastoral Team

Scott and his wife Sarah have been in Kansas City for the last 8+ years, were married in November 2007, and welcomed their first son, Liam Daniel, in October of 2010. Sarah grew up in KC, has a BA from Truman State University, and spent several years doing overseas missions with YWAM before moving back home. Scott– a lifelong New York Yankees fan– grew up in NJ, has a BA from Nyack College, and a Master’s from Alliance Theological Seminary. He has served in a variety of church ministry roles and worked with college students for the last 10 years. Scott and Sarah have a passion for sharing the love of God, spreading the worship Jesus Christ, and serving the local church!
Tomi Newby – Chidren’s Ministry Director

Tomi is a lifelong Kansas City resident and has worked in child development in numerous capacities over the past 25 years. She has a specialty with at risk and children with special needs, but her primary passion is to partner parents and the children’s ministry together to see kids grow into the image of Jesus. Tomi oversees a wonderful team of volunteers that work selflessly together each week to provide an incredible environment for the kids. Tomi loves reading, spending time with her grandchildren and spending time with family.
Michael Sullivant

Michael and his wife Terri have been involved in ministry for over 30 years and he has been an advisor to the leadership of Bridgeport since its beginning. In the Spring of 2011, he and Terri made Bridgeport their home church. Michael is currently helping to oversee leader development at Bridgeport and preaches/teaches from time to time when he is not traveling to minister in other groups of believers around Kansas City, the US, and other nations.
Elders
The Board of Elders is made up of members of the Bridgeport community who the church elects to serve as overseers for the congregation. They are responsible for overseeing the governance, welfare, care-giving, core doctrines, direction, purposes and ministries of the congregation and church offices.
